My name is Flavia Silveira, a Brazilian expatriate currently living in Canada. I operate FlahDesign, a one person Web design and development company specialized in custom Joomla! templates with a tropical touch.
My style has been defined as "Funky Organic"*. I am fascinated by new technologies and techniques and given the opportunity I choose the unusual although I can certainly create corporate designs as well.
I have been designing web sites since 1996 and learning a lot along the way as the Web evolved. Most of my work was done as a freelance designer up until April 2006 when I was hired as a full time Web designer by one of Canada's financial corporations. I worked there until January 2010 when I decided to go back to freelancing full time.
I originally used my IRC nick (FayeC.com) as company name. The name FlahDesign originated in early 2008 after coming across the Irish slang word "Flah" on a book. "Flah" means "beautiful" in Ireland. Coincidently, Flah (or in Portuguese, Fla) is also a common nickname for my name, Flavia and FlahDesign was born.
